Everyone deserves to go on holiday at least once a year. There is nothing like going somewhere nice, relaxing for a few days and forgetting about the troubles of the world. Many people have stated that they cannot afford to go on holiday. However, there are many things that can be done to make going on holiday more affordable. Below are some tips for getting cheap holidays :

Plan early or take advantage of the last minute deals

Planning in advance is one of the best things that people can do to save money on their holiday. Many websites offer 40-50 percent discounts on flights, trains, hotels and car rentals to people who choose to book at least a month in advance. It is also important to note that some websites also offer last minute deals.

Book your flight and hotel together

Some people choose to book their hotel and flight separately because they think that it will help them save money. However, one will actually save money by booking their hotel and flight at the same time. In fact, many have been able to save up to 200 pounds by doing this.

Consider bringing your own food

Dining out is one of the many expenses associated with going on holiday. A family of four can very easily spend over 300 pounds per week by eating at a restaurant. That is why people should consider packing their own food. Those who prefer to dine out should eat lunch instead of dinner. Restaurants usually offer better deals on lunch.

A person should not let his finances deter him from going on holiday. Planning in advance, taking advantage of last minute deals, booking the flight and hotel together and bringing one’s own food are just a few of the many ways that people can save money on travelling.

No trip to Paris would be complete without a visit to the world famous Louvre Museum. Home to great artworks like Mona Lisa and Venus of Milo, and more than 30,000 other amazing pieces, this museum is the most visited in the world. Because of this, going to this place entails proper planning and preparation. Below, you will find practical tips to make the most out of your visit.

Don’t arrive with the crowd. The museum’s opening hours is from 9 am to 6 pm on Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. On Wednesdays and Fridays, it is open until 10 pm. It is closed on Tuesdays. Crowds usually arrive mid-day to after lunch in the museum. To avoid the long queues, arrive early in the morning. Another way is to go to the museum before the closing hours during Wednesdays and Fridays.
Consider other entrances. The entrance at the Glass Pyramid is always packed with people. It will take you about an hour to get into museum if you go through this route. Other entrances like Carrousel Du Louvre and Portes des Lions.
Choose artworks to see for the day. The Louvre is massive. It is humanly impossible to see everything in one day. If you’re like most tourists, you’ll probably want a glimpse of the Mona Lisa first before seeing everything else. When you get inside the Louvre, go to the information to ask about the location of the Mona Lisa. You may also follow the Mona Lisa directions posted all over the museum.
Get ready for a lot of walking. Since the museum is very large, you’ll also need sufficient energy to last the whole day. Eat a heavy breakfast before going here. If you’re going with your kids, have breaks in between so everyone can recuperate. Bringing a stroller for toddler is advisable.

Kauai is one of the most beautiful vacation spots on earth. That is why it is called the Garden Isle. So, it is only natural that tourists are excited about their visit here. However, if you want to see everything that Kauai has to offer, then, you need to be highly mobile. Whether it is the lighthouse, the parks or the beaches, the views are scattered all over the place. Extensive travel within the island is unavoidable, which is why it is a must for travelers to get some gyan on Kauai car rentals. Taxi fares are not exactly cheap and if your stay is longer than a couple of days, renting a vehicle is cost effective as well as highly, highly convenient.

* Did you know that a survey in 2003 showed that care rentals in Kauai were approximately $41 while the national average was $54?

The good news is that Kauai car rentals are extremely affordable. In fact, a week’s rental could be anywhere between $100 and $150 (sometimes even lesser if you spot the right deals), which is much lesser than what you would pay as taxi fare and other travel options for a week. The rental rates in Kauai are lesser than the rates in most places of the world due to fierce competition between service providers.

The best way to get the best Kauai car rentals is to make advance bookings online. Before you do that, you have to make up your mind about the kind of vehicle you want to rent. All types of vehicles are available in Kauai, ranging from economy cars to SUVs and convertibles. The kind of car you choose depends on where you want to travel and the purpose of your visit. If you are here on a business tour, you would obviously want a cool car like a Sedan or a Limo. On the other hand, traveling to the mountain peaks require a tough vehicle like a wrangler. For regular sightseeing, small economy cars should suffice.

Book your car online. By booking Kauai car rentals online, you can avail of attractive discounts because many car rental companies offer great deals online.

Just as in hotel rooms, booking in advance gives you attractive discounts. So, book your car rentals as far ahead as possible. If you are traveling at a time when the demand is less (off season) you may avail of discounted rates. There are other discount options too. Compare and shop with the agency that gives you the best deals.

If you intend to stay for a couple of days, book the week- long travel package. Packages for long periods like 3,5,7 or 10 days are more economical than short term packages.

You will need car insurance when you rent a car in Hawaii. Although some folks at the rental may try their sales pitch on you, do not take coverage that you do not need.

If you are under the age of 25 years, you will be needed to pay the ‘underage fee’, which may be in the range of $25 per day. Kauai does not allow people under the age of 21 to drive!

Ibiza is usually overrun with tourists in the summer which isn’t a problem at all for many who go there. However for many of the Europeans who attend the capital of clubbing island they prefer to stay on surrounding islands and boat in for the partying. If you don’t have friends who live on surrounding islands or a boat this might not be the best plan for you. So here are some tips on where to stay on the island.

Where to stay?
If on a budget it may be very tempting to stay in the cheapest areas, however if the reasons for you visiting the island is to see Superstar DJs, experience the best clubs in the world, frolic on great beaches and not feel like you are visiting summer time Britain then basically don’t do it! The best clubs on the island are dotted from the middle to the west of the island. Aim for somewhere around Eivissa the main town centre – Eivissa itself is rather pricey a good alternative to this is somewhere like Playa Den Bossa or with a group and renting a car a villa around this side of the island.

Transport
If in a group and happy to delegate a driver a car is a perfect way to see the island and it is an island that needs much travelling in order to do it properly. All of the good beaches are remotely situated around the island and need driving to or ferrying to. My top tip on travelling however is the bus system. Yes, that’s right public transport does exist on the island and is relatively easy to use. Tickets can be bought from bus drivers and will save you a lot of money on a holiday that will prove to be very expensive. If you are taking the taxi route home, make sure you barter or find someone heading in the same direction as you to cut down the cab fare.

Clubs
Bear in mind these premium clubs come with expensive price tags, but if you are going to go, do it properly. Top 5 on the island that attract the best DJs and crowds are:

1. Pacha – guaranteed a great night here. An international crowd, somehow this club seems slightly less sweaty than the rest and exerts an air of class that the others don’t quite find. However pretentious fears overlooked this club has a constant flow of great names lined up and always provides themed nights featuring strange musical talents from all over the world as well as costumed performers rather than just dancers.
2. Amnesia – one of the clubs situated in the middle of the island between Eivissa and San Antonio it get top marks for the venue. Being many clubbers number one club on this island it is not to be missed. However go on a good night, foam parties tend to be overrun with cheesy creepy Spanish or Italians looking for wet girls to grind. Look out for the nights ‘Cream’ or ‘Cocoon’.
3. Priviledge – situated near Amnesia in the middle of the two towns, it is the biggest club on the island and has Tiesto as a resident DJ on Mondays again this year.
4. Space – This clubs boasts many rooms and sports great acts, namely a space man of some sort on stilts with fire power coming out of his guns, (worth investigation). This club like the others has a great sound system and possibly the best lazers and light shows in Ibiza.
5. Bora Bora- ok so this isn’t a club BUT this is not to be missed. If your idea of Ibiza is dancing on the beach watching the sun set as you have come straight off the beach then definitely head down to Bora Bora. Down the road from Space, Bora Bora is the perfect place to start the evening or end the day after sunning.
Find some cheap flights to Ibiza and get planning. It will be a memorable experience whether you can remember it or not.

Travel blogging is a format that is simply blowing up right now. When I first started blogging in 2008, I frankly didn’t even know that anyone else was blogging about their travels. In the beginning, I was just doing up a blog so that family and friends back home could follow along with my travels, which is still one of the main reasons that I hear new bloggers have started their travel blogs.

But that being said, if you are going to do something, go ahead and do it correctly. Even if you aren’t sure you want to try to make any money from travel blogging right now, if you are going to set up a blog, do it correctly. You might end up enjoying the process, and more importantly the travel blogging community, so much that you do want to take it up to some form of income generation down the road. With that in mind, start properly. So here are a few very, very basic tips when you are starting out.

(1) Join Twitter and dive right into the travel blogging community. You will be amazed at how helpful everyone will be to help you out down the road. These are going to be your backbone of advice givers, so participate, give back and you will be rewarded.

So, that was a non-writing tip, but the travel blogging community is going to be so important to your travels and your writing, I thought I’d start there, but back to the basic website tips.

(2) You have to self-host your blog. Period. I started using Blogger/Blogspot and wasted about two years there. Yes, it is easy to use, but you aren’t maximizing your potential there. Go to one of the domain purchasing websites, buy a domain name, go to WordPress.org and get started on your own site. You won’t regret the move.

(3) Set your URLs to descriptive terms and not just the default setting. The default setting will produce URLs that have an ending that look like this /?7643 — and those are simply horrible for SEO (search engine optimization) purposes. The change is simple. Just go to your dashboard, look for your administration tab and click on the permalinks button. Choose a title format that uses the words from your title and also try to eliminate the worthless words, such as “to,” “the,” “a” and the like.

(4) Please put a re-tweet button on your site via a plug-in. Twitter is just a universal tool at this point and it is blogging malpractice to not have a re-tweet button that is simple to use. And while you are at it, make sure the settings are set so that your @address comes up automatically when someone hits your RT button — make it easy for people to actually help you.

(5) Publish regularly. This, aside from “have good content,” is the easiest tip to follow in the normal course of business. Publish 3-4 times a week, because as you get a following people are going to actually want to follow you. If you are going to be in a place that has bad internet access, take a day out to write some posts and schedule them to go up automatically, which is also simple in a WordPress self-hosted blog.

(6) Set up social media buttons on your website. At a minimum, you need to have a Facebook fan page and a button link to it on your website. You also should be using StumbleUpon. We talked about Twitter already. There are other social media sites out there (Digg, Delicious, etc.). Don’t overdo the buttons, but you need them at the end of each of your posts, so that people that use them can — once again — help you. There are simple plug-ins for all of them.

Many people have thought about looking for and purchasing a boat of their own after seeing others out on the water having loads of fun on a hot summer day… Or maybe even a colder spring or fall day on the water fishing in some secluded cove, just enjoying the time. There are many different kinds of boats, some small, some large, some for sailing, and some for just driving fast! If you’ve ever thought of being out on the water, then you probably have a good idea of the type of boat you would be perfectly happy with and what you would like to do with it. Are you the adventuring type, and possibly want to do a circumnavigation of the world? Or maybe you just want to stay in the harbor driving or sailing along at a low speed? There are many uses and many choices available.

The best place to begin learning about all the different boats and vessels out there is a local boat show in your home town. They usually start convention center boat shows in the early part of the year, while there is still snow on the ground in a good part of the world… Usually January or February, or in Florida or other warmer states they may also take place in the late fall. A good boat show will usually last up to 5 days and you can find out a great deal about different brands and models and actually get to walk on board and inspect the boat in detail. Also, if you decide to purchase at the boat show, you will usually get a discount because the manufacturer does not want to tow the boat back to the plant because it would cost them more money. So instead, they try and reduce the price in order to sell it at the show. You’ll usually find the best boat prices available there, and take advantage of them if you can.

However, spend as much time as you need going to as many shows as possible to look at as many brands and models as they have before buying. Take your time. Probably the best boat show in the U.S. is the Miami International Boat Show which takes place around January or February of each year. It is really a big deal, and takes place in South Beach. Lately it has been at least a 5 location show, with a convention center stocked with smaller boats and models, and other associated companies that have a product targeted toward boaters. Another location has the much larger power boats which are located at a marina, and they can be upwards of 100 feet or more! A very popular venue is the Strictly Sail boats again located in a local marina. This is a big favorite due to all the marvelous lengths and beams of different monohulls and catamarans that you can tour, going from boat to boat. But be prepared to spend all day, and wear very comfortable shoes, as this is very time consuming. But at the end of the day you really feel like you’ve done something very useful and accumulated much knowledge for your boat choice.

You can literally get to the Miami International Boat Show when it opens on the first day and spend each and every day at different venues for the whole length of time the show runs and still probably not see everything available! The Strictly Sail show also has a great selection of free seminars for sailors concerning sailing in the Caribbean, going around the world, weather and what to do, electronic navigation, ship cooking, cleaning and keeping things shipshape on board, keeping pets aboard, best travel itineraries, and many, many other awesome subjects! In fact, you can spend all your time with these free seminars and lose out on your boat touring time, so make sure to budget your time wisely!

The Miami Boat Show will also usually have an in water power boat venue, where large and very large long range power monohulls and catamarans are showcased. Today they have expedition power catamarans that can travel around the world with their huge tanks of diesel, and can handle any type of weather condition. Prices do have a wide range from monohulls to catamarans, and from power to sail, so attending this boat show is really a requirement if you’re serious about doing the proper research. They are incredibly fun also, so don’t think of it as homework and drudgery. If you go into it with the right attitude, you will have a great time and really enjoy yourself! Just be sure to wear soft soled shoes and get yourself in shape before going, since it’s definitely a workout… Have fun!

Travelling the world and enjoying holidays is a lot of fun. We tend to feel thrilled in the process of choosing the right destination, the preparations – shopping, packing, the journey by plane or car and finally, reaching our holiday resort. To be able to make the most of our holiday and enjoy our time abroad to the full, we need to bear in mind certain rules about our personal safety and safety of our valuables.

Losing our valuables whilst travelling can be a very unpleasant and stressful event, which can be avoided. First of all, if you do not need them, do not bring them with you. By valuables we mean expensive jewellery, watches, cameras, laptops, excessive amounts of cash, travel documents, traveler’s cheques etc. If you must bring them, then always take good care of them by packing them carefully in your hand luggage or somewhere where they can be constantly supervised. Do not leave your luggage unattended whilst at the airports, do not accept any offers to carry any items from third parties. And if you are travelling by car, always make sure the car is empty and the doors are locked before you leave it. When you reach your hotel, it is always a good idea to hire a safe either at the reception or pay for one in your room if it is not provided free of charge. When in your room, store your passport and your valuables in the safe. Try not to wear too much expensive jewellery when you are out and about. This way you would only become an obvious target for thieves. And it is also advisable not to bring your valuables to the beach. However, if you decide to bring your wallet with you, carry only a minimum amount of cash in it and do not leave it lying in the sand unsupervised. Do not fall for any scams and do not lend any money to anyone who approaches you or you do not know them. Do not trust third parties with your valuables either.

Photocopy your passport before you travel and bring the copy with you. It will make things a lot easier in case it gets lost and if you need to arrange for a new one. Always report any losses to the local authorities or the police and in a case of any emergency, don’t forget to carry the telephone number of the nearest British Embassy with you. Your insurance company will also be of assistance if you need it. However, if you want to report a loss or make a claim, always make sure you have taken all the reasonable steps to protect your valuables. Insurance companies are usually intolerant of any reckless attitude or unreasonable behaviour when it comes to compensating for your losses.

Browse through any of the well known travel magazines and you’re sure to find Bali, Indonesia, listed among the top 10 travel destinations in the world.

With its exotic blend of ancient culture, majestic scenery, the world’s finest hotels and the warmth of the tropical oceans surrounding the island paradise, it’s hardly surprising.

Bali is located in the Indonesian archipelago only eight degrees south of the Equator. The island measures 90 kilometres (55 miles) from north to south and 140 kilometres (90 miles) from east to west, making it easy to go out for an excursion anywhere in Bali and return to your hotel by nightfall.

Towering volcanic peaks that rise mystically through the clouds, terraced rice paddies carved into the mountainous landscape, iridescent crater lakes, lush tropical rain forests and sandy white beaches lapped by warm ocean currents are only a few of the wonders that draw millions of visitors to this tiny island each year.

Bali Tricks for First Time Travellers

Let’s look at some valuable travel tips to help you experience the very best that Bali has to offer:

1. Bali’s tropical weather means that travel at any time of the year is suitable, however its best to check when the major Indonesian holiday periods and religious ceremonies occur to avoid the influx of domestic tourists.

2. Bali accommodation offers superb value, particularly if you are travelling on a budget. To ensure you get the best value for money, book ahead.

3. Getting around in Bali can be quite an experience, to say the least! Road rules are nonexistent and traffic can be downright dangerous. Don’t assume that traffic will stop for you at a pedestrian crossing if you are on foot. If you are driving, the best piece of advice is to paraphrase a famous saying, “When in Bali, drive like the Balinese.”

4. Many of the luxury Bali hotels and villas will organize a driver for you, or you may choose to hire a bicycle if you don’t have far to travel.

5. As a tourist, you are bound to be hassled by local drivers shouting “Transport?” wherever you go. If you wish to hire a local driver, make sure he is clear about where you want to go and arrange a fixed price before you get in the car. Drivers are keen to barter with you, so it is customary to bargain until you get a price you are comfortable with.

6. And while we’re on the subject of bartering, it’s perfectly acceptable to barter in the local markets and stalls, but don’t try it in the larger department stores – the sales assistant may be quite offended.

7. Hawkers will descend on you from the moment you step outside your hotel, particularly if you are located in one of the major tourist areas. Although it may seem rude to you, the best advice is to ignore them altogether. Don’t make eye contact or slow down to look at the merchandise they are selling unless you are interested in purchasing something, or being distracted for what may seem an eternity trying to get rid of them.

8. Beware of counterfeit goods unless that is what you’re looking for. Bali is well known for its knock-offs and you can buy anything from fake Rolex’s to fake Rayban’s at the local markets.

9. It’s likely you may be offered illicit drugs in the highly populated tourist spots. Ecstasy, pot, yabba (crystal meth) and shabu-shabu (methamphetamines) are the most popular drugs on offer in nightclubs and on the beaches, particularly in the Kuta area.

If you don’t want to become another high-profile drug case, simply ignore the offers.

10. Bali locals are among the most friendly and relaxed people you will find anywhere in the world, but that doesn’t mean you can drop your guard when it comes to scams and rip-offs.

Be wary of moneychangers who offer you amazingly good rates for exchanging foreign currency, touts who offer you the cheapest ride to your destination without confirming a fixed price and anyone who wants the money before handing over the goods.

11. And perhaps the best tip for new travelers to Bali is the one that is bound to be least successful — don’t look like a tourist!

This sage piece of advice is written almost tongue-in-cheek because the diminutive, friendly Balinese bear no resemblance whatsoever to their much larger framed Western neighbours. Not only that, our cultures are vastly different and so is our language. The most you could possibly hope for is to look like an ex-pat from your native country who has chosen to live an idyllic lifestyle on the island.
